Best Picture: Nomadland
To tell you the truth, when I first saw this movie I never thought it would win the Academy Awards. Surely it was heart-wrenching and my heart sank in but I was rooting for Sound of Metal to win. But I have made my peace with it and now I am happy to see it win the Best Picture Award. The story was really good.
“See You Down The Road“
Best Director: Chloé Zhao, “Nomadland”

Best Actor: Anthony Hopkins, “The Father”
Anthony Hopkins, you deserved it. You made me see my future, will I be the same as you when I grow old? Will I forget things? Will my children leave me to die alone?
Best Actress: Frances McDormand, “Nomadland”
She will inspire a lot a woman to go down the road.

Best Supporting Actor: Daniel Kaluuya, “Judas and the Black Messiah”
Best Supporting Actress: Yuh-Jung Youn, “Minari”
Original Screenplay: Emerald Fennell, “Promising Young Woman”
Adapted Screenplay: Christopher Hampton and Florian Zeller, “The Father”

Animated Feature: “Soul”
Watch it NOW if you haven’t. I mean RIGHT NOW.
Production Design: “Mank”
Costume Design: “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”
Cinematography: Erik Messerschmidt, “Mank”

Editing: “Sound of Metal”
The whole metal community was rooting for Sound of Metal, even me.
Makeup and Hairstyling: “Ma Rainey’s Black Bottom”
Sound: “Sound of Metal”
Visual Effects: “Tenet”
Tenet disappointed me the most. Maybe I didn’t quite understand the whole theme. Anyway, nobody can crack what goes on inside Nolan’s mind, who am I then.
Score: Trent Reznor, Atticus Ross and Jon Batiste, “Soul”

Nomadland is a great story and a fantastic book.
I didn’t know that the movie was based on a book. I will find out more about it. Thanks for sharing Reg.
